VR Media: Solution Using Substitution (Review)

Objective

This media demonstrates common (non-mathematical) meanings of the word "substitution". We may

  1. substitute a bicycle for a car;
  2. substitute ingredients in a recipe such as margarine for butter;
  3. substitute screws for nails;
  4. substitute honey for sugar in tea.

In our daily life, we may substitute one thing for another as long as they both have the same function. Similarly in algebra, we may substitute one variable or one expression for a completely different looking variable or expression as long as both represent the same quantity.
